Handicraft assures high quality during the hole building process – starting from barking, finishing at accurate hewing of grooves and tenons the log and with correct mounting on the foundation

Construction process can be divided into different phases:

1. Making project The design will be prepared according to the customer’s vision about his/her future home, summerhouse or other log building. We will find the design solution that best suits the customer. We use the services of professional architect Arlis Narusberk, tel: +372 51 27 586, e- mail: arlisnarusberk@gmail.com

2. Log purchasing and preparatory works Log is collected according to project. Good building log is straight, with high resin content, thick and dry heartwood. Important is also width of annual rings, narrower annual rings refers to stronger wood and more durable the house is. Building log is collected according to old folks saying: tree cut down at winter time, when it is “dead”. We use mainly pine logs for building, with diameter starting at 27 cm.

Construction log will be peeled. Peeling logs manually helps to maintain the layer under bark that helps to assure a longer usage time of the log.

After peeling, the sides of the log will be cut off (the thickness of the log remains between 150-250 mm according to the customer’s wishes) and after that the log drying process starts. Logs are dried both naturally as well as in a dryer. The most suitable moisture content of logs is 18-25%.

Advantages of dried log:
1) smaller risk for bacteria (bluening and mold);
2) Sinks and „plays“ less

3. Construction. The construction process is conducted pursuant to in-house quality instructions, which are based on the Estonian Woodhouse Association’s standards of wooden buildings (read and download from here:) and naturally we also consider the wishes of the customer. We follow good construction practice.

Additional works for logwall. Logs are planed and logtips polished. To reduce the checking of timber are cutted threads to logs. Rotten knots replaced with new knotplots. For electrical cables are holes drilled in logs. Log processed against timber mold and blueing with EcoKrunt http://www.ecooil.ee/?id=152

Mounting guide Drawing with markings, list of packets and logs, special recommendations

Usually we mount log parts with our own team – with workers, who build it. So is assured that mounting personnel are familiar with concrete log structure`s peculiarities. Every house is unique and unique are also places where are those houses placed. So far are all houses placed into desired places, there is always a solution! During mounting, insulation material (flax wool or moss) is placed between the logs and plugs for connecting logs are hammered in
